Frequently Asked Questions

How much are lessons?

Stoke: £20 for 30 minutes, £30 for 45 minutes, £40 for an hour

Do you teach children?  No, unless required to do so for a professional production.  If your child wants to do musical theatre work it may be better to enrol in a group activity such as Stagecoach as children often learn better in small groups.  They will also benefit from dance and drama tuition, as well as singing, in the same place before starting 1-2-1 tuition.

What kind of music can you teach?
Originally Craig trained as a classical singer but now works with students singing musical theatre, pop/rock, R'n'B, thanks to Estill Voice Training™.  It also gives Craig the ability to work with the spoken voice although he is not primarily a speech coach.

I have got an audition/gig and need a troubleshooting session- can you help me?  Yes.

Can you prepare me for exams if I want to do them?  Yes.  Craig chooses the exam board depending on the student's musical interests.

I have hurt my voice. Can you help me?  Estill Voice Training™ can be very useful to aid the recovering singer/actor but Craig is not a speech & language therapist.  Craig is happy to liase with SLTs where necessary.

I have already done a Level 1 and 2 course. What can you do for me
Level 1 and 2 courses are the beginning of the journey.  Craig can improve your use of the figures for voice, voice qualities and understanding of the concepts behind the model. Although there may be other teachers using the exercises Craig is currently the only qualified Estill teacher working in the Midlands.  There will shortly a new Estill Practice Group in Birmingham.  Email Craig to register your interest.

Can you certify me as an Estill teacher?
No, you can only do that with a Certified Course Instructor who is qualified to test.  Craig is proud to be an Associate of Reeve & Møller Voice Consultancy.  They offer a clear pathway to certification.

You say that you are the only Estill teacher in the West Midlands but I have seen other teachers advertising that they teach Estill. What is the difference?
It is great that so many teachers see the benefits of Estill Voice Training™ and want to promote it but only teachers who have been through the full certification process can call themselves an 'Estill Teacher'.  Others may have read about the Estill Voice Model and may even have attended a Level 1 or 2 course but certified teachers have demonstrated their ability in all aspects of using and teaching the Estill Voice Model™ to the satisfaction of Estill International.  Please click here to find a qualified instructor in your area.
